| After I do my
presentation I say, “Let me give you three reasons to book a show with
me tonight!” I think putting it out on the table puts everyone at ease,
I then say : “First, you will get a lot of free books! The company is very generous and most hostesses walk away with just about everything they want.” (I then tell them the current special. I don’t talk about numbers but use general terms like “you get a lot.”) “Second, your hostess will get to go to your show and receive another $20 worth of books for only $5.” (At this point the hostess is smiling and everyone is looking at her). “Also, if 3 of you book tonight she will get to order any book in the catalog for free!” (Someone always says, “Any book?” By this time the hostess is really smiling. She will then become your partner in booking shows with you. A lot of the time people in the audience will start saying, “Suzie, why don’t you have a show, I’ll come.” ) “You’ll get to introduce these wonderful books to your friends and family. There are still a lot of people who’ve never heard of Usborne yet.” I usually book 2 or 3 shows from every show. ~ Charlene Harris, Executive Supervisor

During the show ask
excitedly, “How many of you would love a $100 shopping spree from
Nordstroms’s (or your favorite area store). Everyone nods, says “sure.”
Then you say, “Who wouldn’t! I can offer you a $100 spending spree with
Usborne Books. How would that be... Get wonderful books for your kids
that will help them in school while they’re having FUN! You can get
gifts for birthdays and Christmas too, for everyone on your list. All
you have to do is have a few friends over to see these marvelous books
and before you know it you will have earned a shopping spree. In
addition you’ll be helping your friend, Lynne (the hostess) earn even
more free books.” - Belinda Ellsworth, Direct Selling Expert At the end of your presentation, ask guests to turn over their wish lists. Now, ask them to quickly write down the names of these people they know : 3 neighbors, (pause for about 10 seconds after each category) 3 co-workers or hubby's co-workers, 3 friends from church, 3 moms of their kid's friends, 3 old friends from high school, 3 people who are Aunts, 3 people who are Grandma's... (etc. - more categories you can think of) While they're writing these names down, you might say, "Don't worry, I'm not going to ask you to give me your lists" When they are done, say, "OK, now you have just done the most difficult part of having a home show - you already have your guest list! And you can probably think of a couple more names to add, right?" Then you can go into the customer survey,
and when you ask the question about hosting a show, you can say,
"Hosting a show is fun and easy - you already have your guest list! And
you'll get an incredible shopping spree with Usborne Books!" |
